Three top tips to help you increase online sales

Looking to increase your online sales, fast? If your Stor is in need of some orders, there are loads of simple ways to get people interested. We’ve narrowed down a few of the best ways to boost eCommerce sales so you can take your online store to the next level:

1. Coupon codes

When you’re trying to grow sales, the first thing you need to think about is who is the best target audience for your products. Any idea who that might be? Most of the time, it’s people you already know are interested.

One of the best ways to get would-be buyers over the hump is coupon codes – by offering customers a percentage off their orders the chance of them buying from you will increase dramatically. In fact, 60% of consumers are likely to try a new product as a result of a coupon, meaning that these are a no-brainer.

If you’d like to add them, select Promotions from the left-hand pane, and then click on Coupon Codes. From here, you will be able to add and manage all your discounts and offers.

If you click Add New Discount, you will be able to choose the type of discount, percentage or fixed, as well as the number of times a coupon can be used, or individual customer may use it.

One of the most effective ways to increase sales output is to add a minimum cart total, found under Usage Limits. By creating an offer that requires users spend a certain amount to receive a discount, you can increase volume and encourage customers to look at the full range of your products in order to meet that quota.

How you distribute these coupon codes is up to you. You could send them in emails to previous customers in your customer database to reward your biggest fans, or you could just display them on your front page to entice new visitors. We’d recommend a combination of both, with better offers available to repeat customers to keep them coming back for more.

2. Abandoned cart emails

In the same way that customers who have already bought from you are a great place to start, so too are customers who nearly did. How many times have you put something in our basket and not followed through? It might surprise you to learn that over 69% of all carts are abandoned by users.

So, how do we stop this? Well, thanks to Stor you can sit back and relax whilst we send out abandoned cart emails automatically. You can set when they send from your Cart/Payment page. In coming updates, you’ll even be able to automate discount codes to get your customers running back to your shop.

Given that up to 48% of customers gave extra costs such as shipping as the reason they didn’t follow through with a purchase, a free shipping or nominal price reduction could make all the difference.

3. SEO

For new customers, visibility is key. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the practice of optimising your website in certain ways to move your page up the rankings when someone uses a search engine. Ever noticed how what you’re looking for is normally on the first page of search results? This is exactly why.

Stor’s software does all the techy stuff for you, just plug a title and shop description into meta tags section of the SEO/Tracking area, which can be found under settings.

Make sure it’s full of keywords that will help users find you (don’t overdo it, though – you should still aim to write coherently, as stuffing keywords in without making sense will actually harm your SEO rankings). Meta tags are what users will see when they search for keywords, so it’s important to get these right.
